Starbuck is giving away free reusable red cups: How to claim yours

By Aswin Kumar

Customers who order a handcrafted holiday or fall beverage at participating U.S. locations on Thursday will receive a free limited-edition reusable red cup. While supplies last, the freebie is available.

Starbucks, on Nov. 4, reintroduced holiday drinks such Peppermint Mocha and Chestnut Praline Latte, as well as a new Sugar Cookie Almondmilk Latte. The free reusable cup giveaway has previously taken place on the first day of the holiday menu.

To commemorate the chain’s 50th anniversary, this year’s reusable cup is created with 50 percent recycled content, according to Starbucks. It has a festive crimson background with swirls of shimmering ribbon dancing against a starry sky.

According to Starbucks, the red cup gift is available regardless of how you purchase, including smartphone order and pickup, curbside pickup, and Uber Eats delivery.

Christmas Starbucks Reserve and Starbucks Christmas Blend brewed coffee are not included.

Starbucks temporarily banned personal cups in the early days of the outbreak. In June, the restaurant reintroduced mugs and reinstated the 10-cent reusable cup discount to “encourage customers to choose reusable and reduce single-use cup waste,” after a 15-month hiatus.

The discount is valid for the free cups from Thursday’s promotion.

Starbucks claims it is “testing safe options for allowing personal reusable cups in the drive-thru, but for now, personal reusable cups are only accepted inside stores,” since the reinstatement of personal mugs in June.
