According to TheWrap’s exclusive, the 1990s animated series “X-Men: The Animated Series” would be revived on Disney+ and will launch in 2023.

The revival, currently titled “X-Men ’97,” will begin up where the original show left off, with numerous cast members from “X-Men: The Animated Series” returning, some reprising their previous roles and others taking on wholly new roles.

Cal Dodd, Lenore Zann, George Buza, Adrian Hough, Christopher Britton, Catherine Disher, Chris Potter, Alison Sealy-Smith, and Alyson Court are among the returning cast members.

Jennifer Hale, Anniwaa Buachie, Ray Chase, Matthew Waterson, JP Karliak, Holly Chou, Jeff Bennett, and AJ LoCascio are among the newcomers to the cast of “X-Men ’97.”

Beau DeMayo is the show’s head writer and executive producer. Jake Castorena is the supervising director, and Charley Feldman is the supervising producer.

“X-Men: The Animated Series” writers Eric and Julia Lewald, as well as director Larry Houston, are advising on the new series.

The original “X-Men: The Animated Series” aired 76 episodes over five seasons from 1992 to 1997. It’s currently available on Disney+. The animated series is credited with popularising the Marvel comic team, which may have aided the production of the live-action film in 2000. The superhero craze began with that picture, which starred Patrick Stewart and a then-unknown Hugh Jackman.

In a 2019 story in The Hollywood Reporter, Houston first mentioned a prospective revival, saying that the creative team was working on a concept to pick up where the series left off.
