Netflix’s extremely popular TV show “Squid Game” will produce slightly under $900 million in value for the company, according to internal documents obtained by Bloomberg.

The documents also indicated that the production of “Squid Game” cost $21.4 million. That’s a lot less than some of Netflix’s other blockbuster shows, at roughly $2.4 million each episode.

The South Korean TV show depicts a brutal competition in which heavily indebted individuals battle for a large cash prize. The contestants compete in a variety of children’s games, but if they lose, they are killed.

With 132 million viewers viewing for at least two minutes, “Squid Game” has become a global mega sensation and Netflix’s most-watched original show. Bridgerton, the previous record holder, had a viewing audience of 82 million people.

According to internal Netflix papers seen by Bloomberg, the show had an “impact value” of $891 million. Netflix, which works on a subscription model, uses this indicator to determine the financial importance of the series. It appears that “Squid Game” will attract a sizable audience.

Netflix is getting a fair return on its investment, with each episode costing roughly $2.4 million. Each episode of “The Crown” and “Stranger Things” cost roughly $13 million and $12 million, respectively.

According to Bloomberg, 89 percent of individuals who started watching “Squid Game” stayed for at least 75 minutes. It estimates that 66 percent of watchers, or 87 million individuals, watched the entire series in the first 23 days it was available online.

Netflix did not respond to a request for comment right away. “Netflix does not divulge these numbers outside the company,” a counsel for the streaming provider told Bloomberg.

“As always, the key number we’ll be watching out is for subscriber growth,”

said Sophie Lund-Yates, equity analyst at broker Hargreaves Lansdown.

Meanwhile, in recent weeks, the financial markets have been favorable to Netflix, owing to the success of “Squid Game.” Over the last month, the stock has risen by more than 6%. On Tuesday, the corporation is expected to release its third-quarter profits.
