A new Vivo patent published to WIPO indicates the company’s new project that looks like a Smartphone-drone hybrid.
The patent was initially spotted by LetsGoDigital, which packs a traditional phone design with volume rockers and a power button but the camera module is reimagined with a design that looks similar to a drone.
The Chinese manufacturer seems to bring some futuristic ideas into work propellers into the camera module which is interesting as well as worth waiting to see how could they successfully incorporate the whole concept into a user-friendly module.
The patent called ‘Electronic device’ was filed in December 2020 for Vivo Mobile Communication with the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO), released on July 1, 2021.
At first glance, the phone seems to have an extra compartment at the bottom which contains a hidden camera system with a double camera, three infrared proximity sensors, four propellers, and an extra battery.
The extra camera module features a slide-out function which was attached to the housing using a mounting bracket.
The camera system can fly into the air, yes surprise! thanks to the integrated propellers, takes pictures from a greater distance and with the infrared sensors, the distance to other objects can be calculated to avoid collisions during flight.
The extended camera module can also change its position like a drone and presumably, the smartphone itself will control the module.
Vivo’s is futuristic but the module is not so compact considering the extra space occupied by the drone but if they could make it more compact, this could be one of the future tech awaited in consumer technology.
