Dr Reddy’s Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine costs Rs 995 per dose

Hyderabad: Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories rolls out the imported doses of Sputnik V from Russia in India, which will cost ₹ 995.40, said Dr Reddy’s Laboratory, who will manufacture the said vaccine in India.

The Russian made Sputnik V is said to have 91.6 percent efficiency, is the third vaccine to be approved by India after Covishield and Covaxin.

The first dose of the vaccine was administered in Hyderabad today as a part of the beta launch by Dr Reddy’s. The 995 Rs cost of the vaccine per dose will also include 5 percent GST.

The company said to be working closely with its six manufacturing partners in India to meet the demand for vaccines in India. The vaccine is likely to be available in the market from next week, the Centre had said on Thursday.

“I’m happy to say that we’re hopeful that it’ll be available in the market next week. We’re hopeful that the sale of the limited supply that has come from there (Russia), will begin next week,” Niti Aayog VK Paul said.

“Its production will begin in July and it is estimated that 15.6 crore doses will be manufactured in that period,” Paul said.

The company said that the first load of the imported vaccine reached India on 1st May, 2021, received clearance from Central Drug Laboratory on 13th May, 2021.

Co-Chairman and Managing Director G V Prasad said “with the rising cases in India, vaccination is our most effective tool in our battle against COVID-19. Contributing to the vaccination drive in India is our biggest priority right now to help Indians be healthy and safe.”
