UP, India:A man was shot dead in UP’s Hathras by a person accused of sexually harassing his daughter. Police arrested four people in the case.
According to the police, there was some dispute between the two families. The accused took the victim to a farmhouse and shot several rounds into him. Gaurav Sharma, the accused, was out on bail.
An argument at around 4:30 PM on Monday, the Hathras Police said, between the family of the survivor and the accused’s family outside a village temple ended up in the shooting incident, leading to the death of the survivor’s father on way to hospital.
Police said initially an altercation broke out between the women of the two families due to a previous dispute. In a fit of rage, Guarav called some of his associates to the spot and shot the farmer dead.
The incident took place when the wife and aunt of the main accused had gone to offer prayers in a local temple in the village where the deceased’s daughters were already present.
The farmer was dead before reaching the hospital according to the doctor. Police registered an FIR against four identified persons including Gaurav on the basis of a complaint given by the victim’s family.
Hathras SP Vineet Jaiswal while revealing that in July 2018, the Woman’s father filed a molestation case against Gaurav under Section 354, 452, and 506 of IPC.
The accused got bail after spending one month in jail. Since then there was a tussle between the two families.
Inspector General (Aligarh range) Piyush Mordia, police arrested person named Lalit Sharma. Four teams have been formed to probe the case and nab the accused named in the FIR.
Following the directions of chief minister Yogi Adityanath for strict action against the suspects, the district police is contemplating booking the accused under stringent sections of the National Security Act (NSA).
The Uttar Pradesh Police have announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh on the head of Gaurav Sharma, the main accused, who shot a farmer for daring to lodge a molestation case against him. The police have also announced reward of Rs 25,000 each on two more accused involved in the crime.
