Google launched its mid-range Pixel 4a in India and it will be available to purchase from October 16 at a special launch price of RS. 29999.
The US tech giant had announced the global launch of Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 and sadly both the devices will not be available in India which means there won’t be any 5G phones available in India by Google.
Pixel 4a is powered by Snapdragon 730 which is an 8mm processor which is a year old processor which is really confusing for a phone at a price tag of RS. 29999 because Snapdragon 765G used in, OnePlus Nord is currently one of the best mid-ranger processors which also supports 5G but it’s clear that Google is planning to fuel its Pixel 4a 5G with Snapdragon 765G.
The devices also feature Google’s Titan M security module for on-device security. It comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage and is powered by a 3140 mAh battery that the company claims will last all day.
The device sports a 5.8 inch OLED Full HD+ display but again the display is just a 60Hz panel which is pretty old in late 2020 when almost every mid-range phones feature at least a 90Hz display.
The Pixel 4a also has a simpler camera setup — a single rear 12.2-megapixel sensor with an f/1.7 aperture, OIS, and an 8-megapixel selfie camera which is expected by Google as they try to keep the Pixel phones as simple as possible.
The fingerprint sensor will be mounted on the rear side of the phone which is also an outdated design when compared to other full display phones.
The phone will run Android 11 out of the box and an 18W fast charger will be provided in the box.
If you are looking for a camera-centric mid-range phone then I would really suggest this phone considering its predecessor Pixel 3a which was a great camera-centric phone but if you want an overall value for money phone with a specification that could really compete with other phones in the segment then I don’t really consider this phone.
